Janet “Jan” Cornelius, 80, of Perry passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2025.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 11 from 10-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Perry. Interment will take place at the Dodge Center Cemetery in Bagley, Iowa.
Jan was born April 16, 1944, in Pierceton, Indiana, to John Sr. and Mary Anne (Shenefield) Noble.
She graduated from Pierceton High School in 1962.
On Dec. 6, 1963, she married William Clay, and together they welcomed their daughter, Cathy. Following their divorce, Jan married Stephen Cornelius of Perry on June 11, 1977, and they had a son, Curt.
One of Jan’s most cherished roles was serving as a paraeducator for the Perry schools for 11 years.
Jan is survived by her husband, Steve; her daughter, Cathy (Brett) Groth, and their children, Lindsey (Devin) French, and great-grandchildren, Daxton and Lily French and Seth (Brylie) Groth; her son, Curt (Abigail) Cornelius, and their daughters, Hazel and Brinley; her brother, John Jr. (Linda) Noble; niece, Jennifer (Matt) Spencer; and nephew, John III (Brian) Noble.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and niece, Lisa.
