Janice West, 83, of Minburn passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at the Eden Acres Campus of the Perry Lutheran Homes in Perry, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at the Minburn United Methodist Church in Minburn. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Janice Marie West was born Oct. 1, 1939, in Adel, Iowa, to Walter Harold and Ruth Juanita (McLaughlin) Wicks.
She graduated from Perry High School.
Janice was united in marriage to Jon Shirley West at the First Christian Church in Perry on Aug. 25, 1957.
She worked as a bookkeeper at Lauterbach Chevrolet in Perry, in an insurance company in Des Moines and did wall papering and painting and various other odd jobs.
Janice was a member of the Washington Chapel Church of Christ near Minburn.
She volunteered many hours at the Minburn Library.
Janice fostered a lot of dogs, loved being a mom, going out to eat, making pizza on Saturday nights and was very involved at the Washington Chapel Church of Christ.
In death she rejoins her parents,; Harold and Ruth; aunt; and uncles.
Left to cherish Janice’s memory are her husband, Jon West of Minburn; sons, Jon (Marti) West and James (Bethany) West of Minburn; sister, Donna Johnson of Woodward; nephew; nieces; great-nieces; and great-nephews; and her dog, Steve.
Memorials will be given to Raccoon River Pet Rescue or Minburn Emergency Rescue Team and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.
