BOONE — Visiting Perry saw an early lead vanish Wednesday in a 70-27 loss to Boone in their Class 4A Region 8 Quarterfinal.
The setback ends the Perry season at 2-20 overall while Boone (10-11) faces host Denison-Schleswig (17-4) Saturday in a semifinal contest.
Perry held an 8-4 advantage after one quarter of play, but Boone exploded in the second quarter for 27 points to seize a 31-16 advantage at the intermission. A 21-6 scoring edge in the third frame for the hosts ended any hopes of a Jayette comeback.
Lydia Olejniczak led Perry with 15 points, with Kennedy Tunink adding five. Quinn Whiton had three points, Jayna Kenney two, and Michelle Tobar two as well.
Olejniczak had six rebounds and three steals for Perry, with Kenney pulling down six caroms.
Emily Ades had 15 points for the hosts, with Morgan Kathman and Emma Dighton each scoring 14. Ten points from Emma Lewis, eight from Natalee Danner, five from Kelsea Moorman, and four from Zoey Hightshoe completed the Boone scoring.
Seniors Tobar, Tunink, Whiton, Lanie Fish, and Phoebe Stewart all played their final game for the Jayettes.
