Jayette soccer receives academic accolades

Perry's Grace Marburger (7) and KC Gafkjen (3) close in on the Denison-Schleswig goal Tuesday. The pair were two of 10 Jayettes to earn academic all-conference honors.

The Perry girls soccer team recently earned the IGHSAU Excellence in Academic Achievement Award after the team posted a combined grade point average of 3.0-3.24 on a 4.0 scale.

A total of 10 Jayettes were named to the Raccoon River Conference All-Academic team. Requirements include being a letter winner in grades 10-12 and having a 3.25 GPA or higher.

Earning such distinction were: Grace Arganbright, Maria Duffy, KC Gafkjen, Vivian Gonzalez, Grace Marburger, Mariah McNamara, Janet Ortiz, Katelyn Thomason, Haley Vaughn and Jensen Wilke.

Perry (10-6) visits second-ranked Lewis Central (13-3) at 6 p.m. in Council Bluffs Monday in the Class 4A Substate 2 Final.
