
CARROLL, IA — The Perry swimmers capped off another strong regular season with a split decision inĀ a double-dual Tuesday.
Host Carroll defeated both Perry (61-43) and Algona (72-36), with Perry slipping by Algona (54-52).
Perry was first overall in the 400 free relay in 4 minutes, 12. 76 seconds, with Lilly Riley, Sophia McDevitt, Jenna Nelson and Quin Mahler-Moreno in the pool for the Jayettes.
The foursome of Riley, McDevitt, Mahler-Moreno and Emily Dowd were 2-1 (against Caroll/Algona) in 1:52.39, with Riley setting a personal best by 1.83 seconds while leading off the relay with a leg of 25.94
The other relay — the 200 medley — was 3/2. Down, Nelson, Maddie McDevitt, and Hailey Peterson hit the wall in 2:33.58.
Mahler-Moreno was 1-1 and Dowd 3-3 in the 200 free in 2:01.67 and 2:25.97, respectively, the later a PB for Dowd by .26 seconds.
Sophia McDevitt was 2/1 in the 200 IM in 2:30.14, with Riley 2/1 in the 50 free in 28:14 while Peterson was 1/1 in the JV 50 in 37.03.
Riley dropped 1.65 ticks to reset her personal best in the 100 free. She ws 1/2 in 1:00.97. A double-win by Sophia McDevitt in the 100 butterfly helped the Perry cause, the win coming in 1:06.05.
Nelson touched 2/1 in the 500 free in 6:26.08, with Dowd trimming 5.58 ticks to finish 3/2 in a PB of 6:27.32.
Mahler-Moreno was 2/1 in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.59, the Nelson third against Algona in 1:29.3 while Maddie McDevitt was second to Algona in the 100 backstroke with a clocking of1:23.87.
Perry will compete at Waukee Saturday in a regional final to determine which teams will send relays and individual events to the state meet in Marshalltown.
