Perry's Emma Olejniczak delivers a first inning pitch against Des Moines North Tuesday. Manning the corners for the Jayettes are "The Mads" first baseman Maddie West (rear) and third baseman Maddy Jans (10).

Players from the various age groups and teams in the Perry Girls Softball Association were on hand Tuesday as the Perry varsity girls scored a 12-0 win over Des Moines North in four innings.

The Polar Bears are winless through 32 games and have now been outscored by a combined 492-21 this season while the Jayettes moved to 19-11 overall.

PGSA teams were paired with an individual Jayette and introduced along with each player when starting lineups were announced. The youngsters were able to pass through the Perry dugout, then race onto the diamond through a tunnel of Jayette reserves before joining the starting player at her position on the field for the national anthem.

Each youngster received a medal and a Jayette poster, which the Perry players happily autographed for the young softballers after the game.

Perry broke through in the second inning with six runs, with a single tally in the third and five more runs in the fourth ending the game early.

Rachel Kinney was 3-for-3 and hit a two-run inside-the-park home run while also stealing two bases. Sid Vancil was 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Maddie West drove in three with a double. Alyssa Kruger had three RBIs and Brooke Huntington two to help the Perry offense.

Emma Olejniczak allowed one hit and hit one batter with a pitch while finishing with nine strikeouts. She now has retired 232 opponents on strikes in 165.2 innings this year after fanning 261 in 198 frames last year.

Perry visits Bondurant-Farrar tonight before hosting Ballard for Senior Night Thursday. Perry ends their regular season with a trip to Pella Tuesday before hosting Greene County July 7 for a Class 4A Region 7 First Round contest.
