Jayettes make short work of Tigers

CARROLL – – The drive to Carroll takes somewhat less than an hour, which was about the amount of time the Perry softball required to humble their hosts Wednesday.

Emma Olejniczak faced just 11 batters, allowing one hit and striking out five as the Jayettes topped the Tigers, 12-0, in three innings of RRC softball.

Jo Diw opened the game with a solo home run, with an error, a sacrifice fly from Maddy Jans, a RBI ground out from Maddie West and a RBI single from Brooke Huntington staked Perry (15-8) to a 5-0 lead.

Sid Vancil singled home a run in the second before scoring o  Alyssa Kruger ‘s homer, with a Jans RBI later in the frame pushing the score to 9-0.

A run – scoring single from Rachel Kinney and a two – run hit from Olejniczak capped the scoring.

Kruger had two RBIs with her homer and scored three times, with Diw going deep and scoring twice while Vancil finished 3-for-3 with three runs. Olejniczak was 2-for-3 with two RBIS and a steal, Kinney had two RBIs, two steals a hit and three runs while both West and Huntington drove in a run.

Jans also had two RBIS for Perry, who visits Boone tonight.
