  • Josh Jordan reported a suspended driver in the 300 block of N. Elm Street. An officer did not locate the vehicle.
  • An officer located an open door in the 500 block of Greenewood Road.
  • Officers responded to a bank alarm activation at 116 W. State St. All was determined to be fine.
  • Hy-Vee reported receiving forged checks on a closed account at the business. An officer is investigating.
  • A Greene County Deputy Sheriff requested assistance from officers in looking for a missing juvenile female from the Churdan area.
  • Dwayne Fiscus requested assistance from an officer with a civil property issue occurring at 405 E. Madison St.
  • Christa Simmons advised of a neighbor’s dog defecating on her property at 307 Grauer Road. An officer made contact with the neighbor and advised the neighbor that city ordinances will not allow her animal to leave her property and defecate on a neighbor’s yard. The neighbor was given a period to become compliant with animal licensing.
  • Kim Meyer requested assistance in gathering keys to rental properties from the previous caretaker of the properties.
  • Dusty Cochran requested officers at 777 Wild Rose Lane for a criminal mischief occurring to her vehicle. Cochran advised she was being bothered by a male on the floor of a local gaming hall, and she had “told him off.” She said when she came outside, her vehicle had a flat tire, and she can see a hole in the side of the tire. An officer determined the tire had been damaged by a sharp object. He viewed video of the parking lot and watched a male pull up beside the vehicle, get out and lean over by the tire. As the male gets back in his vehicle and drives away, the tire deflates. The tire is valued at $100 to replace. The officer is seeking an arrest warrant for Derek Eugene Ott, 35, of Jefferson for fifth-degree criminal mischief.
  • Officers assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 300 block of E. Adams Street.
  • An officer investigated a backing accident in the private parking lot at 307 Greenewood Road. A 2004 Dodge Intrepid, owned and operated by Pat Monagin of Jefferson, was backing in the lot and struck a parked 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, owned by Delores Mull of Jefferson. The Mull vehicle had a reported $500 in damages, and the Monagin vehicle suffered a reported $1000 in damages. No citation was issued as the incident occurred on private property.
  • Curt Hastings reported that yesterday he allowed a male driver to park a vehicle with mechanical problems on Hastings’ property at 403 N. Elm St. The driver was supposed to remove the vehicle yesterday, but it was still there. Hastings asked whether an officer could locate the driver and advise him to remove the vehicle. The vehicle is registered a person from Montour, and the officer could not locate a number for the owner. He relayed the information back to Hastings.
  • An officer removed debris from the roadway at Elm and 220th streets.
  • While conducting park checks, an officer located two persons sitting in a parked vehicle at Kelso Park in the 500 block of S. Chestnut Street. As the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed the male driver was banging his head on the steering wheel. When the officer instructed the male to roll down the window, he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, the officer located a small amount of suspected marijuana and an open container of alcohol. Grason Trevor Lansman, 18, of Churdan was arrested for first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of alcohol under legal age.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
