Jefferson Police Report August 23

  • An officer investigated a two-vehicle property-damage accident at 101 Ram Drive. A 2013 Honda CRV, owned by Samantha Telleen of Jefferson, was parked in the parking lot at the Greene County High School when it was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Impala, owned by Erika Godwin and operated by Lucy Dudley both of Jefferson. Telleen’s vehicle had an estimated $200 in damages, and Godwin’s vehicle had an estimated $500 in damages. No citation was issued as the accident occurred outside of the roadway and on private property.
  • The McFarland Clinic requested officers to remove a male from the clinic at 106 W. Washington St. The male was asked to leave but kept returning the clinic. The officers spoke to the male and advised him not to return to the clinic for the remainder of the day.
  • Emily Chiafos spoke with an officer about obtaining a no-contact order against a female. An officer advised Chiafos to seek the advice of an attorney becaues officers cannot impose a no-contact order.
  • Letitcia Sutton said the 9-year-old male she was babysitting at 502 W. Harrison St. was missing. Sutton had left the residence for a few minutes to take care of her animal and when she returned, the juvenile was gone. Officers began searching for the boy and located him shortly afterward with his grandparent. The child was fine.
  • A traffic stop at Elm and Head streets resulted in Gavin Wetrich of Adair being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • A retail store reported a possible short-change artist was in the business at 606 U.S. Highway 30 East on Aug. 17. The store was short $7000 in the cash drawer for the shift. They are working to obtain video of the transactions in attempt to identify the subject.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
