  • An officer investigated a two-vehicle property-damage accident at Elm and 220th streets. A 1997 Jeep Cherokee, owned and operated by Benjamin Barron of Jefferson, was westbound on 220th Street and left the posted stop sign at the intersection, turning south onto Elm Street. A 2004 Ford F150, owned and operated by Nile Dockter of Carroll, was eastbound on 220th Street and could not stop at the posted stop sign. Dockter’s vehicle slid through the stop sign and struck Barron’s vehicle. The Barron vehicle suffered a reported $2,000 in damages to the rear passenger’s corner. The Dockter vehicle had $3,000 in front-end damage. Dockter was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
  • An officer began an investigation into a burglary to the Trinity Lutheran Church at 801 W Lincoln Way. Suspects entered the building, forced open office doors and removed computer items valued at about $2,300. The investigation is ongoing.
  • An officer was requested at 504 S. Walnut St. for a reported assault. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Veronica Laine Ellsbury, 33, of Jefferson for domestic abuse assault-simple.
  • Connie Ross reported her juvenile son was assaulted Feb. 4 at 401 S. Wilson Ave. An officer is investigating.
  • Jon Laue reported a semi driving carelessly on 220th Street, approaching Jefferson form the east. An officer stopped the truck in the 400 block of North Elm Street and spoke to the driver.
  • The physical therapy department at the Greene County Hospital requested a welfare check on a patient who did not make his appointment. An officer made contact with the person, who was fine.
  • A caller advised of a loose dog near Maple and State streets. An officer checked the area but found no dogs running freely.
  • Susan Herrick requested a welfare check on her dogs at 407 S. Olive St. An officer could locate anyone at the residence.
  • William Davis requested an officer at 102 S. Pinet St. for a dispute occurring with his son. An officer worked to defuse the situation for the evening.
  • An officer took a criminal mischief complaint at 1311 W. Lincoln Way. A vehicle stuck the mailbox at the residence.
  • Esther Knapp reported a deer in the roadway at 908 W. Harrison St. An officer checked the area but did not locate the animal.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
