January 24, 2018

  • An officer located an open door at 509 E. Gallup Road.
  • Chris Howard spoke with an officer about Amber Revell trespassing on his property at 307 E. McKinley St.
  • An anonymous caller spoke with an officer about drug activity occurring in Jefferson.
  • Tim Martin spoke with an officer about his neighbor, Wendi Smits, throwing snow on his property at 606 N. Chestnut St.
  • Wendi Smits spoke with an officer about her neighbor, Tim Martin, contacting law enforcement about her throwing snow on his property at 606 N. Chestnut St. Smits requested Martin be charged with harassment. Smits was advised martin’s report did not constitute harassment.
  • An officer assisted with an abandoned vehicle in the 600 block of E. Lincoln Way.
  • An officer assisted the Iowa Department of Human Services with a home visit at 108 E. Central St., #5, after they received information about possible drug activity occurring with children in the residence. Bradley Conklin, who resided at the residence, was not there at the time of the officer’s arrival. The officer made contact with Conklin, who drove to the residence. Conklin’s driving privileges were barred in the state of Iowa. After the officer spoke with Conklin, he allowed for a consent search of the residence, which resulted in marijuana and drug paraphernalia being located and removed.  As a result, Bradley Conklin, 35, of Jefferson was placed under arrest for driving while license barred, third-offense possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • The Jefferson Fire Department and Jefferson Police Department responded to 300 S. Pinet St. for a possible residential fire. Upon arrival, an officer determined it was a window curtain on the second floor that was on fire. The fire was extinguished prior to the officer’s arrival. It was determined that a juvenile male in the residence set fire to the curtains using a lighter. The investigating officer will be exploring options to correct the behavior.

January 25, 2018

  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 200 block of S. Georgia St.
  • An officer arrested Hiram Silvano Black Jr., 29, of Jefferson at 902 N. Pinet St. on Jefferson Police Department arrest warrants for first-offense possession of a controlled substance/marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Officers assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 700 block of Rushview Drive.
  • Brenda Batschelet informed an officer she was friends again with a neighbor, and they wanted to have contact again with each other.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
