July 3, 2019

  • Chad Louk reported three juveniles throwing rocks at a building in the 600 block of N. Elm Street.
  • An officer provided a funeral escort.
  • Dennis Blackburn reported a burglary in the 500 block of W. Washington Street. An officer learned two gift cards and two electronic devices were taken from a vehicle parked inside a garage. Officers are investigating.
  • Officers responded to 501 1/2 E. Lincoln Way for a report of trespassing.
  • Officers investigated an accident in the 100 block of N. Elm Street. A 1991 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by Jonathan Thede of Churdan, struck a vehicle while attempting to turn from N. Elm Street onto W. State Street. The 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, owned by Nora Long oj Jefferson and operated by Clifton Long of Jefferson, sustained a reported $900 in damage. Thede’s vehicle had a reported $400 in damages. Thede was issued a citation for unsafe turn.
  • Michelle Christian reported harassment.
  • Scott Foresman reported a driving complaint in the 800 block of W. Clark Street.

July 4, 2019

  • The Greene County Medical Center reported a male with a dog-bite injury.
  • An officer responded to the 600 block of S. Cedar Street to assist the Greene County Ambulance with a medical call.
  • An officer responded to the 400 block of W. McKinley Street for an alarm activation.
  • An officer investigated a possible intoxicated driver in the 300 block of Ram Drive. The driver subsequently passed all field sobriety tests and was given a warning for dark windows.
  • An officer responded to 303 S. Cedar St. to remove a bat from a residence.
  • As a result of a traffic stop in the 1500 block of N. Elm Street, Christina Wagner of Des Moines was issued a citation for failure to wear seat belt.
  • An anonymous caller reported a loose dog in the 500 block of S. Wilson Avenue. Officers located the dog and returned it to its residence.
  • An anonymous caller reported possible criminal activity in the 400 block of N. Vine Street.
  • The Greene County Medical Center requested an officer’s assistance in speaking with an unruly patient.
  • An anonymous caller advised of fireworks being set off in the 500 block of N. Wilson Avenue.
  • Curt Hastings advised of fireworks in the 500 block of N. Vine Street.
  • An officer responded to a car-versus-deer accident in the 1800 block of N. Elm Street. A 2010 Honda Fit, owned by Jean Mann of Nevada and operated by Daniella Fehring of Nevada, struck a deer, causing a reported $750 in damage to the vehicle.
  • An officer responded to the 500 block of W. State Street to assist the Greene County Ambulance with a medical call.
  • An officer responded to an alarm activation in the 500 block of E. Vest Street.
  • Billie Jo Hovic advised of fireworks in the 500 block of W. Harrison Street.
  • As a result of a traffic stop near the intersection of 220th and N. Elm streets, Ignacio Melendez Leiva, 41, of Perry was issued a citation for excessive speed, open container and no valid driver’s license. During the traffic stop, an officer noticed Ignacio was displaying signs of intoxication. As a result, Ignacio was placed under arrest for first-offense OWI.
  • As a result of an unpaid parking ticket, Samantha Harms of Carrol was issued a citation for parking between the lot line and the curb.
