  • Home State Bank turned in a possible counterfeit $100 bill that came from a deposit from a local business.
  • A nurse from the Carroll Area Nursing Group called and requested a welfare check on a male in the 1000 block of W. Adams Street. An officer made contact with the male, who was fine.
  • Officers assisted the Greene County Ambulance with a medical call in the 700 block of S. Locust Street.
  • Officers were advised of a Facebook post from a female who may be suicidal. The officers learned the female no longer resides in Jefferson and passed the information on to the Denison Police Department, where the unhappy person now resides.
  • Officers checked on a bank alarm activation at 116 W. State St. All was fine at the bank.
  • Amelia Kennedy requested assistance from officers with her juvenile son, who was walking away from her vehicle and refusing to get in. An officer returned the child to his guardian.
  • Megan Ball reported the storm blew down a tree and blocked the roadway in the 100 block of W. Madison Street. An officer contacted a city crew, who pushed the tree off the street.
  • Kim Truong reported a tree blew down onto the house at 205 W. Madison St. The residence suffered roof damage.
  • Roger Carlson reported a tree branch on the power lines in the alley of the 600 block of S. Chestnut Street. Alliant Energy was contacted.
  • Robin Conner reported a tree trunk split down the middle in the 500 block of S. Elm Street.
  • Steve Kohl reported a tree branch on a power line caused a small fire near 605 S. Vine St. Alliant Energy was contacted.
  • Tanisha Rice requested officers at 501 1/2 E. Lincoln Way for a domestic assault. An officer arrived, spoke with Rice and found her injuries to be consistent with her version of the assault. The officer attempted to locate the assailant but was unable to do so. The officer applied for an arrest warrant for Jason William Sheldahl, 48, of Jefferson for second-offense domestic abuse assault.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
