  • While conducting business door checks, an officer located an open door at 600 E. Lincoln Way. The officer secured the door.
  • An officer investigated a two-vehicle, personal-injury accident at Clark and Maple streets. A 1997 Toyota Rav 4, owned and operated by Sherry Demello of Jefferson, was southbound on N. Maple Street when Demello failed to yield at the uncontrolled intersection with Clark Street and was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Clark Street, a 2015 Jeep Cherokee, owned and being operated by Luann Walsh of Carroll. The Demello vehicle had a reported $5,000 in damages, and the Walsh vehicle suffered a reported $4,000 in damages. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Durbin Towing. Demello was transported to emergency room by the Greene County Ambulance for possible injuries. Demello was issued a citation for failure to yield to vehicle on right.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance with a medical call in the 100 block of N. Wilson Avenue.
  • The Greene County High School requested an officer at 101 Ram Drive for a student who appeared to by under the influence of narcotics. The officer met with the male juvenile, who eventually admitted he left school and smoked marijuana before returning. The officer searched the student’s locker and vehicle, but nothing illegal was located. The student refused to cooperate with officers and advised where he had smoked the substance.
  • Officers assisted the Greene County Ambulance with a medical call in the 700 block of Wild Rose Lane.
  • A caller reported grass clippings blown into the street near Pinet and Clark streets. An officer is working to determine who mowed the area and will advise them of the ordinance prohibiting grass clippings in the street.
  • Teresa Gaver reported missing items from her apartment at 1000 W. Adams St., #6. Gave said someone had also prepared food and placed it in her refrigerator.
  • Janice Napolitano reported hearing gunshots in the area of the 1200 block of W. Lincoln Way. Officers did not locate anything in the area.
  • An officer performed a traffic stop with a vehicle in the 600 block of E. Lincoln Way and arrested Jason William Sheldahl, 47, of Jefferson on a Jefferson Police Department warrant for second-offense domestic abuse assault.
  • A caller reported a couple walking in the area of the 200 block of S. Wilson Street and involved in a verbal argument. An officer did not locate the reported disputants.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
