Jeffrey Dean Nyren, 50, of Omaha, Neb., and formerly of Storm Lake and Albert City, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at CHI Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, comforted by his daughters.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will take place at a later date. The Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Jeff was born Dec. 29, 1967, in Jefferson, Iowa, to Dean and Mary (Taylor) Nyren.

He spent his years growing up in Albert City and was known as the class clown by all.

Upon graduating in 1986 from Albert City-Truesdale High School, he attended Iowa Lakes Community College for criminal justice.

Jeff’s first police job was as a patrolman with the city of Remsen. He subsequently was an officer with the city of Perry and later worked his way up to detective at the Storm Lake Police Department.

Several of Jeff’s accomplishments in criminal justice include being a trained EMTI, baton instructor, defensive tactics instructor, SCUBA certified, hostage negotiator and school resource officer.

One of Jeff’s career highlights was being featured on World’s Wildest Police Chases.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Alexandrea (Micheal) Keller of Onawa, Iowa, and Teagan Nyren (Keith Winger fiance) of Storm Lake; father and mother, Dean and Mary Nyren of Albert City; brother, Thomas (Karla) Nyren of Johnston; niece and nephew, Emily and Nicholas Nyren; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
