Joanne Girard Geneser, 66, of Woodward, a mother of pure love and a devoted Nona to seven grandchildren, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 20, surrounded by her two daughters, Nicole and Katie, her son-in-law, Justin, and her beloved grandchildren.
Joanne was adventurous, independent and strong-willed, embodying a spirit of resilience and determination. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—camping under the stars, the rhythmic hum of mowing the lawn and the refreshing embrace of water while swimming.
A true hands-on problem solver, she took pride in being her own contractor, always ready with a tool in hand to fix whatever needed repair. If there was a challenge, Joanne was the one to tackle it.
She had a unique appreciation for life’s small wonders, often searching for heart-shaped rocks—a reflection of the immense love she carried for those around her.
Her children were the light of her life until the day she became a grandmother; from that moment on, her grandchildren became the center of her world, filling her days with laughter, joy and unconditional love.
She is deeply loved by Nicole, Justin, Caisen, Jaelyn, Charlie, Katie, Carl, Calianna, Tate, Melo, and Kobi.
In lieu of flowers, donations toward a headstone are appreciated. Contributions can be sent to her daughters, Nicole and Katie, via Venmo or brought to the service.
Joanne’s legacy lives on through the strength, love and kindness she instilled in her family. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know and love her.
A celebration of Joanne’s life will be held on Friday, Feb. 28 from 5-7 p.m. at the Iles Funeral Homes–Sundberg Kirkpatrick in Madrid.
