John Andorf of Perry, longtime member of the Perry Lions Club, received the Warren Coleman Award from the Iowa Lions Clubs Monday.

The Warren Coleman Award, presented by Perry Lions Club President Harley McGuire, recognizes Lions Club members across Iowa who show a high degree of service to the community and to the Lions Club organization.

The members of the Perry Lions Club voted for Andorf, who joined the club in 2010. He has served two terms as the club’s president and is currently the vice president. Andorf has also coordinated the Lions Kids Sight Program for several years and is an active member in all of the local club’s activities.

“John Andorf lives up to the Lion’s Club motto, ‘We Serve,’” said Perry Lions Club President Harley McGuire in presenting the award, “and he is a deserving recipient of the Warren Coleman Award.”

Outside of the Lions Club, Andorf is also a leader in the Perry Community, having served on the Perry City Council for a four-year term and three two-year terms as the Perry mayor.

Andorf and his wife, Linda Andorf, have co-chaired the Toys for Tots Christmas toy collection for underprivileged children for 13 years. He is also a board member of the Raccoon Valley Pet Rescue and volunteers at the shelter several hours each week.

He is a member of Perry’s Home Town Heritage board of directors and has served in this position for the past six years. He also sits on the planning committee for the annual Community Christmas Dinner.
