John Joseph David Tasler, 91, passed away peacefully Jan. 20, 2022, five days short of his 92nd birthday. John aka Jack was born on the family farm in Greene County, Iowa, to Francis “Frank” and Margaret Tasler and had five siblings.
Jack never met a stranger and was the best story teller. He loved visiting family and friends and always shared a wave, laugh and smile.
Over the years, he was a jack of all trades and dabbled in many different endeavors. He joined the U.S. Air Force at a young age, was a police officer and a realtor, just to name a few.
Jack is survived by his wife, Mary, of 53 years; four children, David Tasler, Melanie (Jim) Whalen, Darin Tasler and Michele Tasler Hearne and three step-children, Lori Tejeda, Tom Wilson and Scott (Sarah) Wilson; plus 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale. Visitation will start at 9 a.m., with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
The family would like to thank our hospice team from Unity Point, especially nurse Holly and aide Garland.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to donate to their favorite charities.
