Abdullah Karim Hashim, 25, of Johnston was arrested Monday on charges of assault, assault causing bodily injury and third-degree harassment.

A Johnston man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Monday in connection with an alleged assault of a West Des Moines woman in her apartment.

Abdullah Karim Hashim, 25, of 6220 N.W. 106th St., Johnston, was charged with assault, assault causing bodily injury and third-degree harassment.

The incident occurred about 6 p.m. April 13 in the 1700 block of 92nd Street in West Des Moines.

According to court records, the victim told police said Hashim allegedly “pushed her down and pulled hair out of her head.”

Two hours later, Hashim allegedly “forced the door to the victim’s apartment open and in doing so,” Hashim “knocked the victim to the ground,” according to court records.

Hashim also allegedly sent numerous text messages and made phone calls to the victim after he was trespassed from the residence and advised not to contact the victim.  According to court records, Hashim “did call the victim approximately six times and texted the victim over 20 times in approximately 60 minutes.”

Officers observed that the victim “had scratches on her neck and left forearm from the physical altercation,” according to court records.

A warrant for Hashim’s arrest was ordered April 14 and served April 26. He is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $4,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 7 and a pretrial conference May 18 in Dallas County District Court.

Hashim was convicted of second-degree harassment in December in Polk County District Court.
