The opportunities for promising young scholars at St. Patrick School in Perry just got brighter thanks to the founding of the Joseph and Arva Ruggle Memorial Financial Aid Fund with an $80,000 donation from Dr. Paul Ruggle and his wife, Dianne Ruggle, of Newton.

Joseph Ruggle and Arva Hurd Ruggle were graduates of St. Patrick’s High School. They married in 1948 and raised their 10 children in the St. Patrick Parish. Arva Ruggle died April 30, 2010. Joseph Ruggle died March 25, 2018.

Paul and Dianne’s financial-aid donation complements a gift the family made last year in memory of their parents.

“This is an outstanding gift to our students and school,” said St. Patrick School Principal Kandice Roethler. “A portion of these gifts will be used immediately for financial aid, and a portion will be invested in the memorial fund. Earnings from the memorial fund will go towards financial assistance going forward for families to send their children to St. Pat’s School.”

Donors wishing to contribute to the Joseph and Arva Ruggle Memorial Financial Aid Fund or to found a memorial fund for students should call St. Patrick School at 515-465-4186.
