A Kansas man was arrested Tuesday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with incidents in April in which he allegedly assaulted a Waukee woman in the home and destroyed her property.
Andre Patrick Pope, 29, of 7815 Apennines Dr., Fort Riley, Kansas, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault, false imprisonment and two counts of fifth-degree criminal mischief.
The incident occurred April 25 about 11 p.m. in a residence in the 1100 block of S.E. Olson Drive in Waukee, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Pope and the victim were engaged in a dispute, and Pope allegedly “would not allow her to leave the apartment” and “physically blocked her from leaving multiple times,” according to court records
The victim told the officers that Pope allegedly injured the victim by “grabbing her left wrist until his finger marks were left, and pulling her by a bag into a bedroom,” according to court records.
At length the victim left the residence, Pope later “sent a text to the victim, stating, ‘I left you a lil something. Hope you like it.’ When she returned she found the apartment destroyed,” according to court records.
Among other things, Pope allegedly “placed numerous of her beauty products, Amazon Alexa and an air fryer into submerged water in the bathroom tub and toilet,” according to court records.
A warrant for Pope’s arrest was ordered April 28 in Dallas County District Court and served Tuesday. Pope is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 16 in Dallas County District Court.
