Kathy’s Kitchen hosted a ribbon-cutting grand opening Saturday afternoon at 220 S. Main St. in Woodward, longtime site of the former Lou’s Diner.

Kathy Butler of Woodward bought the business in November and has been busily remodeling the rooms and revamping the menu, which still includes many classics of traditional American food.

Butler recently retired after 36 years as a resident treatment worker at the Woodward Resource Center. She said striking out on her own as an independent business person is bringing mixed feelings.

“It’s exciting,” Butler said Saturday, as she bustled between the kitchen and the crowded dining rooms, “but also kind of scary.”

Doug Rothfus and Peggy Beals were the lucky winners of two $25 gift certificates raffled off at the grand opening.

“It takes a village to run a restaurant,” Butler said in November. From the turnout on Saturday for her grand opening, it looks like the village will also support its restaurant.

Kathy’s Kitchen is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. All major debit or credit cards are accepted, including MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express.

  1. I have their hot roast beef sandwich, and everybody knows I never finish my plate, but I finished that one. My son Patrick said, Wow, mom, look at you go! It was very very good.
