Perry wrestling head coach Trevor Kittleson has been named the 2016 Class 2A Central District Coach of the Year by the Iowa High School Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association.
Kittleson, who is in fifth season at the helm of the Bluejay matmen, will be honored during a presentation at the State Wrestling Tournament Feb. 20 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Coaches and officials submit nominations for their choice in each class and district, and Kittleson said he was unaware he had even been nominated.
“It is nice to have my coaching peers and the officials both think I was worthy of this honor,” he stated. “I am both surprised and pleased. Obviously it is very flattering to receive this kind of an honor and I want to thank those who nominated and voted for me.”
