Warm spring-like weather brought out local pancake lovers in force Saturday morning to the McCreary Community Building, where the Perry Kiwanis Club still served some 800 diners at the club’s 67th annual Kiwanis Pancake Festival.

Working in shifts, the Kiwanians served pancakes and sausage, with volunteers from the PHS Junior Class Prom Committee managing the milk, orange juice and coffee and Perry Pathfinders 4-H members offering fresh baked goods.

The serving started at 7 a.m. in the soon-to-be-remodeled gymnasium of the MCB for the Kiwanis Club’s largest annual fundraiser.

Among the veteran Kiwanians in attendance were Lawrence Bice of rural Perry, a member since 1974, and Mark Lincoln of Perry, a Kiwanian since 1978. Club Secretary Doug Wood, a member since 1997, said official numbers for attendance will be available Monday.
