CARRROLL — Kuemper Catholic used a 10-hit attack, combined with five Perry errors, to score an 11-2 win Thursday in their non-conference baseball meeting.

The host Knights (17-13) saw a 3-0 lead trimmed to 3-2 when the Bluejays (0-21) plated a pair of runs in the top of the third inning. Kuemper scored twice in their half of the third to retake a three-run advantage, with six unearned runs in the fourth all but settling the issue.

Perry will host Nevada (5-20) tonight. With a game Monday and a nine-inning contest Wednesday, available pitching innings were at a premium, forcing head coach Austin Daniels to give the ball to senior Conner Kenyon, who had thrown just 3-1/3 innings all season, and all in short relief.

Kenyon did all he could, throwing three frames and yielding five runs (four earned) on four hits and five walks. He also hit one batter.

Fellow senior Alex Morales, who had just 11-1/3 frames under his belt, tossed the final three innings. He surrendered six hits, two walks and a hit batter, with all six runs scoring off Morales unearned.

Kuemper countered with sophomore Blake Pottebaum (5-3) who was making his eighth start and had 31 prior innings of duty. He allowed two runs on four hits and five walks while striking out six in six frames. Kyle Berg yielded a hit and struck out one in an inning of work.

Kaleb Olejniczak had three singles and scored once for Perry, with Kate Dougan adding a hit, a run and a stolen base. Keghan West had a hit, a RBI and a stolen base while walking once, with Avery Meister and Kenyon also producing hits. Kenyon swiped one bag, with Morales walking twice, Kaden Boyer once and Caden Steva once.

Jake Hugeback drove in two runs with two hits for the Knights, with Aaron Schreck and Austin Tigges each hitting a double, with each also driving in a run.
