

Kris Corrigan, president of the Perry Alano Club and a counselor at Zion Recovery in Perry, addressed the Jan. 27 meeting of the Perry Lions Club.
Corrigan, a 1995 Perry High School graduate, said he has worked as an outpatient counselor at Zion Recovery in Perry for the past six years. He said Zion has been providing substance abuse treatment since 1973, and the organization’s substance abuse program is licensed by the Iowa Department of Health and has international accreditation.
There are seven Zion Clinics in the state of Iowa that give counseling to people with substance abuse issues. For more information check the web site at Zion.org/services.
Corrigan is also the president of the local Alano Club, which includes the Alcohol Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous groups that help people with alcohol and drug addiction.
He said the club’s mission is to help people by “offering programs and activities that are designed to be a catalyst that helps community members reach their goals and fulfill their potential.”
The Alano Club is located at 1211-1213 Lucinda St. in Perry. Corrigan said various programs and activities occur every night, and there is also a Hispanic group.
Corrigan thanked Lion Pat Graney for inviting him and the Perry Lions Club for their donation to the Alano group.
In other business, Perry Lion Lou Hoger received the International Lions Club Key Award for his success in recruiting two new members. The award was presented to Hoger by Perry Lions Club President Harley McGuire.
Ray Harden is the secretary of the Perry Lions Club.
