Large tree limb snaps in high wind, falls on Perry powerline

The Perry Volunteer Fire Department responded when a large tree limb fell on a powerline in the 2100 block of W. Third Street Wednesday night.

A large limb from a fir tree fell on but did not break a powerline in the 2100 block of W. Third Street about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday.

A caller to the Perry Police Departent reported hearing an explosion in the vicinity. An officer responded and discovered the fallen limb dangling on the line some 25 to 30 feet above the roadway.

The Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged, and the Alliant Energy Co. was notified and was said to be responding.

There were no injuries in the incident.
