Memorial service for Larry Bice will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 at Murdock Funeral Home, with Pastor James Mead officiating. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5–7 p.m. Thursday evening prior to the service.

Larry passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at the Dallas County Hospital.

Larry Gene Bice was born Feb. 14, 1932, the son of Ronald E. and Anna C. (Lass) Bice in Perry, Iowa.

He grew up in the Bouton and Woodward area and graduated from Woodward High School in the class of 1949.

Larry served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Larry owned and operated Bice Clothing in Perry for many years and managed the Perry Elks Club for a time.

He married Janice (Miller) Rumley on Feb. 27, 1984, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Larry lived in Las Vegas for nine years, working as a security guard for various casinos and the VA Hospital.

He returned to Perry and was the greens keeper at the Woodward Golf and Country Club and worked at Michael’s Pub in Perry.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Bice of Perry; two daughters, Denise (Butch) Niebuhr of Perry and Diana (Dan) Finestead of Mesa, Ariz.; one step-daughter, Annette (Mike) Pote of Perry; two step-sons, Curtis (Cindy) Rumley of Ottumwa and Patrick (Becky) Rumley of Scranton; one brother, Dean (Elayne) Bice of Johnston; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding Larry in death were his parents; one son, Jeffrey Bice, in 1984; and one step-son, Steven Rumley.
