Laura Christine Bryan McQuistion of Minneapolis passed away at Mercy Hospital-Unity Campus in Fridley, Minnesota, on Sept. 10, 2021, at age 51.

Laura was born on July 4, 1970, in Jefferson, Iowa, to John and Ellen Bryan of Dawson.

She attended Perry Schools until her graduation in 1988. She then attended Hamline University in St. Paul, double majoring in theater and English.

Laura met her husband. Mike, when they both were working at the Penumbra Theater in St. Paul. They married Aug. 20, 1994, and had two sons, Sean and Conor.

Laura taught in the Anoka Hennepin School District at Northdale Middle School, teaching eighth grade English.

She achieved her Master of Arts in literature and creative writing from Hamline University in May 2019.

Laura was preceded in death by her father, John Richard Bryan; niece, Emma Joyce Bryan; grandparents, Elmer and Joyce Podoll and Robert and Marguerite Bryan.

She is survived by her husband, Michael McQuiston of Minneapolic; sons, Sean McQuiston of Minneapolis and Conor McQuiston of Mankato, Minnesota; granddaughters, Kathleen and Gracie McQuiston of Minneapolis; mother, Ellen Bryan of Pinewood, Minnesota; brother, Samuel (Kristine) Bryan of Canby, Oregon; nephews, Hunter Bryan of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Dillon Bryan of Bemidji, Minnesota; and many, many precious in-laws and other nieces and nephews.

Laura touched many lives, including her students, whom she treasured and truly cared about. Her death will leave a hole in many lives and hearts. There will be a celebration of life/open house in the backyard of her niece’s home Sunday Sept. 19 from 3-6 p.m. at 4931 N. Sixth St. in Minneapolis.
