To the editor:

I’m writing to support Rep. Carter Nordman’s reelection to the Iowa House. Nordman has been a consistent advocate for animal welfare, particularly in ensuring law enforcement can more effectively address puppy mills and serious animal cruelty cases.

Through his support for proposals aimed at strengthening Iowa’s animal protection laws, Rep. Nordman has shown that he understands the importance of these issues to his constituents. He has taken the time to meet with stakeholders, including law enforcement and advocates, to ensure he fully grasps the need for stronger tools to combat neglect and abuse.

He recognizes that addressing egregious cruelty cases isn’t only about protecting animals—it’s about upholding the values of the communities he represents.

Nordman’s practical approach to policymaking reflects his responsiveness to the needs of his voters. He understands that effective animal protection laws also bolster public safety. His backing of this year’s updates to Iowa’s bestiality law further demonstrates his commitment to creating a safer environment for both people and animals in our state.

Rep. Nordman has also played a crucial role in passing legislation that strengthens public safety while respecting the rights of Iowans. He also voted to protect the rights of Iowans to own the dog of their choice, by supporting a bill to prevent local governments from imposing breed-specific bans—a critical step in stopping discriminatory policies that tear families and their pets apart.

As election day draws close, I urge my fellow Iowans to stand behind Carter Nordman. His leadership in supporting commonsense measures to protect animals and promote safety in our communities is invaluable to the future of our state.
