To the editor:
It is puzzling why it was a priority for Republican state legislators along with our Republican governor to enact voter suppression laws. Iowa has a small non-white population. Is it aimed at those over 65 and under 30?
I can remember as a child being proud of Iowa’s honest lawmakers, judges and other adults. What has changed?
Why do today’s Republicans not trust Iowa citizens? Are Iowa citizens suddenly so corrupt that the new law had to be enacted? Will county auditors have to have attorneys ready to defend themselves from felony charges?
Hopefully, Iowa’s Supreme Court will rule against these foolish laws that Republicans are bent on enacting.
