Don David of Granger, front row left, is a member of Boy Scout Troop 141 in Granger.

To the editor:

My name is Don David, and I am an eighth grader at Woodward-Granger Middle School. I am working on my Boy Scout Communication Merit Badge.

Requirement 7 says, “Write to the editor of a magazine or your local newspaper to express your opinion or share information on any subject you choose. Send your message by fax, email or regular mail.”

Last night I went to a school meeting called the School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC) in Granger. It was open to anyone in the community to hear what is going in the school.

When I was there, they talked about what they can do to make Woodward-Granger schools a better place to learn and make is as safe as they can. They also talked about health curriculum to explain to the parents what the kids will be learning in the future. Lastly, they were open to any questions.

The meeting lasted over two hours. It was an interesting meeting. The key points they discussed were educational goals, student learning goals, long-range learning goals, student performance, bullying and character education.
