Greetings from the Drake University Agricultural Law Center. This summer I have been working with Professor Neil Hamilton to produce and share the Our Water Our Land series, and today I am excited to share one of my favorite episodes thus far: “We are All Land Owners.”
Today we celebrate the 25th annual National Public Lands Day, and this episode is a great reminder of the privileges and responsibilities we have to the land as citizens.
In addition to working as the policy and outreach coordinator for the Center, I am also the Mark C. Ackelson fellow at the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation(INHF). The INHF has worked with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and county conservation boards to create public parks and areas for public recreation.
Working at INHF, I have earned a great appreciation for Iowa’s precious natural resources, and I encourage you all to use National Public Lands Day as an opportunity to get outdoors and take advantage of the public parks and open spaces that you own!
