To the editor:
As a longtime practicing attorney here in Iowa, I know on a professional basis the Iowa judges up for retention vote in our November 2016 election.
They are men and women of the highest integrity.
As an independent branch of government, they are and should be insulated from politics and special political interests. They are the firewall for the protection of our individual constitutional and civil rights.
They decide cases on an individual basis without fear or favor. These Iowa judges must at times decide highly contested cases.
We must not let them be subject to political bullying by special interest groups.
Iowa has one of the best judiciaries in America. Supreme Court Justices Cady, Hecht and Appel are judges of the highest integrity and competence.
I urge you to vote “Yes” on this year’s election ballot to retain all of these excellent judges.

Thank you, Dan. I was so ashamed and disgusted a few years back when our religious/reactionary/right of Iowa insisted upon having its own way by ousting judges they didn’t like. Iowa and the rest of the U.S. is ruled by the Constitution and not by anyone’s interpretation of the Bible. There will be no Christian Nation with its own peculiar Sharia law here.
