Bob Boyle of Perry, left, and his family, from left, his wife, Denise Boyle, and their four sons, Billy, Bobby, Micky and Ricky, have owned and operated Bluejay Market since 1997.

Bob Boyle of Perry, owner of the Bluejay Market at 2810 Willis Ave., was nominated as the Libertarian Party candidate for Iowa House District 20 at the party’s March 19 convention.

In accepting the Libertarian nomination, Boyle said he is “fed up with establishment politic from both major parties. The leadership of both parties is clearly more concerned with maintaining a power base than doing what is best for the citizens of Iowa and America.”

Boyle said he intends to run a no-frills campaign and will not seek cash donations from supporters. He said he similarly advocates a no-frills government that should operate on little or no money.

“Government has a moral responsibility to spend as absolutely little of the people’s money as possible,” Boyle said, “as opposed to the exact opposite, which is what they’re doing now.”

In communications, Boyle quotes the words of American hymn writer Frances Ridley Havergal:

Take my life and let it be,
Consecrated, Lord to Thee.
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
