The State Farm insurance offices at 900 First Ave. suffered damage from a fallen limb in the Thursday night thunderstorm that dumped 1.7 inches of rain on the Perry area.

Perry was doused by 1.7 inches of rain in about an hour’s time Thursday night when severe thunderstorms passed through northern Dallas County.

Downed tree limbs were visible around Perry Friday morning, and Alliant Energy workers were seen making service calls in the wake of power outages on the north and west sides of town.

The storm began Thursday night about 9:15 p.m., and readers of ThePerryNews.com began reporting power outages about 10 p.m.

Rainfall is measured at the Perry Water Department and reported to the National Weather Service offices in Des Moines.

ThePerryNews.com is grateful for reports of local conditions from its readers, who ultimately are the eyes and ears of ThePerryNews.com.
