The 10th annual Linden Daze continues Sunday with more hometown activities.

By the time the annual Linden Daze parade started at 11 a.m. Saturday, a crowd of about 200 — a number about equal to the town’s population — lined Main Street north of Guthrie Street.

Considering many resident Lindeners were busy and involved in one way or another with the parade and its related goings on, 200 was a large audience indeed.

Adam Hutchins, son of Linden Mayor Dave Hutchins, led the people in the singing of the U.S. National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance, after which the town bell was rung, officially starting the parade proceedings.

Many Linden residents praised Linden Public Library Librarian Maribee Burnham for her summer reading programs and other programs offered throughout the year.

The Linden Public Library is one of 12 in the Dallas County Library Association.

The parade capped the morning’s celebrations, which began at 7 a.m. with a community breakfast sponsored by the Linden Lions Club. Pancakes, eggs and sausage were served, with juice, milk and coffee to drink.

Linden Daze celebrations continue Sunday with ballgames and other activities.
