The members of the Perry Lions Club and their spouses held their annual Christmas Party this month at the Hotel Pattee.

The hotel served lemon chicken and sliced roast beef for the main entrees of the buffet meal. A tasty, hot cherry crisp was the dessert.

Perry Lions Club President Harley McGuire presented a special award from the Iowa Lions Organization to Lion Richard Saemisch in recognition of Saemisch’s success in signing up new members to the club.

After the meal, local historian Larry Vodenik gave a presentation with many interesting pictures about Perry’s history. Vodenik told about past businesses, school buildings, churches and social clubs that were active in Perry in past years.

A topic of special interest to everyone was the story Vodenik told about the activities of the Klu Klux Klan in Perry and Dallas County.
