Like a rite of autumn, charity fundraising rummage sales kicked off this week at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the First United Methodist Church in Perry.
Halloween decorations and other seasonal goods were among the many items filling the sales tables alongside the racks of clothing and household furnishings.
Sales were brisk Thursday and Friday at the St. Pat’s sale, according to Margaret Wilson of Perry, one of the event’s organizers. Bob Warner of Perry, an organizer of the UMC sale, said traffic was steady Friday but a little slower than usual.
The First United Methodist Church rummage sale continues Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon at the church annex, 1100 Third St. in Perry. Baked goods are also available. All proceeds go to charity.
The St. Patrick’s Catholic Church sale also runs Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon at the school gymnasium at Fifth and Lucinda streets. The semi-annual fundraiser is sponsored by the Regina Guild.
