Lois Irene Worrell was born Dec. 12, 1917, near Dawson to Thornton and Leda Lois (Fagen) Spauldin.

She attended a Country School for two months before attending Lincoln Elementary School and then graduated from Perry High School. Lois furthered her education by attending college at the University of Iowa in Iowa City for three years.

She was united in marriage to Dr. Joseph H. Worrell May 27, 1939, at Iowa City.

Lois was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry.

She loved to play golf, bridge and rummy. She enjoyed travelling, gardening, watching sports and visiting with family and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents, Thornton and Leda Spauldin; a brother, Jack Spauldin; and sisters-in-laws, Irma Spauldin, Rose Beardsley and Agnes Parsons.

Survivors include her son, James (Lynn) Worrell of Iowa City; daughters, Kathleen (David) Westhoff of Dodgeville, Wis., and Margie Worrell of Perry; grandchildren, Tracy (Pat) Dunphy of Des Moines, Toni (Barry) Drecktrah of Raymore, Mo., Tammy (Brian) Gentry of Des Moines, Tom (Lauren) Westhoff of Lake Forest, Ill., Jason (Stephanie) Worrell of Los Angeles, Calif., Courtney (Ryan) Peirce of Green Bay, Wis., and Chris (Dani) Worrell of Iowa City; great grandchildren, Ellie Dunphy, Jackson Drecktrah, Elena and Meredith Gentry, Max, Alexander, Jack and Avery Peirce, and William and Sawyer Westhoff; favorite niece and nephew, Judy Robinson and Steve Spauldin; and her special friends from Spring Valley, Ruby, Norma, Wilma, Byrdene, Betty and Fred.

Lois loved being busy with her friends and family. If you called her to play golf or cards or go out to eat or even go to Australia, she likely said, Yes. And this brought her family great happiness to know her life was good. On Wednesday our mom responded to her final invitation when God called her home to be with Him.
