The Perry Food Pantry received a $1,000 donation Thursday from Louis Dreyfus Commodities LLC in Grand Junction.

Tim Farmer and Carol Johnson, president and treasurer respectively of the Perry Food Pantry Board of Directors, and Lou Hoger, pantry site manager, gratefully accepted the donation from Jay Nelson of Perry, commodity manager for Louis Dreyfus ethanol plant.

Nelson said the company has always had a charitable dimension in the form of the Louis Dreyfus Foundation.

“When the pandemic hit in 2020, the head of LDC North America asked us what sort of donations would be universally applicable,” Nelson said. “I immediately thought of the food pantry.”

Hoger said virtually every dollar donated to the Perry Food Pantry goes directly into the commodities that fill the pantry’s shelves.
