Loy William Hurd, 71, of Claremore, Oklahoma, and formerly of Perry passed away Dec. 24, 2020, in Claremore.

Loy will be laid to rest with his family at the Lone Elm Cemetery in rural Claremore. A memorial service is pending a time when we may gather in his memory.

Loy was born May 19, 1949.

He was proud to share that he attended Ozark Bible College, Iowa Central Community College and Claremore Junior College. He often did his part, supporting the college sports teams along with his college studies.

Loy and a friend published two books, “Poems by Loy.” It is a wonderful collection of poems he wrote over the years.

Loy’s favorite pass time was visiting with friends. In his healthier days, he was often seen walking around Claremore, going to various church and social events. He had a generous heart and loved his hometown community.

He is now singing with the angels in that Great Celestial Choir! Surely he is walking the Golden Streets of Heaven, visiting with family, friends and chatting up stats with the sports legends of old.

We will miss you “Big Guy.”

Loy is preceded in death by his father, William Edward Hurd; mother, Mable Irene Conner; step-father, Paul Conner; and brother, Jay R. “Tiny” Hurd.

Loy has requested that in lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory be directed to one of the following:
