Kickoff will be at 6 p.m. for tonight's varsity game between Perry and visiting Greene County at Dewey Field.

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa — Webster City scored 20 of the first 21 points Friday en route to a 33-25 victory over visiting Perry in non-conference girls basketball action.

Perry (8-13) did not score for the first 14 minutes of the game and trailed, 20-1, at the intermission. The Jayettes outscored the Lynx (7-15), 11-2, in the third quarter to pull to within 22-12, but could not overcome the deficit in suffering the loss.

The guests were playing without injured starter Jayna Kenney and faced foul trouble in the first half to knock the team out of any kind of rhythm.

Lydia Olejniczak had 13 points to lead Perry, with Maci Tunink adding five points, Kathryn West four, Callie Steva two and Litzy Ramirez one. Tunink had the lone 3-pointer for Perry.

Olejniczak topped the 400-point mark for the season. The junior has scored 407 points and has 932 for her career.

Livia Kasch had three 3-pointers to lead the Lynx with 14 points.

Perry will host Des Moines Hoover (1-20) Wednesday in a Class 4A Region 7 first round game. The Jayettes defeated the Huskies, 56-22, in their first game of the season.

Wednesday’s winner moves on to play host ADM (10-11) Saturday, with the R7 Final Feb. 22 at the highest remaining seed. Boone and Webster City will play for the right to face host and top-ranked DC-G in the top half of the bracket.
