February 19, 2018

  • An officer was called to the Madrid Historical Society for an alarm that turned out to be a false alarm, after one of the staff members entered the wrong code.
  • An officer was called to the Market of Madrid for a vehicle unlock.
  • An officer did a civil standby to get property for someone arrested last night. The officer took three firearms into holding per a judge’s order until the case is settled.
  • An officer received a call of an open door on a property on N. Main Street.
  • An officer took fingerprints for someone in an identity theft case.

February 20, 2018

  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a boat blocking an alley. The owner said he would get it moved after he fixed the tires that were damaged.
  • An officer took a harassment complaint from a Madrid resident who received text messages all night from an ex-girlfriend. The officer called the ex-girlfriend and warned her not have contact with the resident.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding someone walking a dog in the 100 and 200 blocks of S. Union Street and failing to collect the animal’s waste. Madrid residents are reminded they must carry a bag and pick up all droppings left by the residents’ animals.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a scam phone call he received from someone claiming to be the IRS. Madrid residents are reminded that the IRS will never call you so, and if a caller says he is with the IRS, it is a scam and just hang up.
  • An officer was notified by someone about a suspicious letter found in the mailbox. The officer and staff at the U.S. Post Office were able to determine the letter was not a threat, and everything checked out okay.

February 21, 2018

  • An officer assisted a Madrid landlord with a background check on a possible tenant.
  • An officer was dispatched to an emergency medical call in the 300 block of N. Water Street for someone having a heart attack.
  • An officer followed up on a request to remove property from a city alley. The property had been removed.
  • An officer was called to a suspicious person walking after dark. It was determined this person was waiting for a family member who worked at Casey’s. Everything checked out okay.

February 22, 2018

  • An officer received a request for a Madrid City Council Member in another small city for copies of the junk vehicle and dangerous building ordinance. The officer forwarded him the information.
  • An officer spoke to an out-of-town person regarding a welfare check on her son. The address given was in Polk County, so the correct phone number was given for the check to be done. The officer received a follow up call that stated everything checked out okay.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident who had questions concerning a no-contact order.
  • An officer responded to a residence in the 400 bock of Newton Road regarding a verbal domestic dispute.

February 23, 2018

  • An officer responded to the Milwaukee Street apartments to speak with a 13-year-old male regarding threats he made to another student at the Creston Middle School in Creston. The officer passed along the information to a Creston Police Department Sergeant to follow up with the school.

February 24, 2018

  • An officer assisted with a medical call at the Locust Street apartments.
  • An officer returned a call to a male whom Madrid Police arrested last week on a domestic assault call. He had questions regarding a child custody dispute. The officer advised the man to seek the advice of his attorney in the matter.

February 25, 2018

  • An officer unlocked a vehicle at the Madrid Fire Department.
  • An officer was requested to do a welfare check on a juvenile. The officer located and transported the juvenile to the 500 block of South Market Street, where the child was released to the parents.
  • An officer followed up with the call on Feb. 23 to ensure the Creston Police Department contacted them and made arrangements with the school. The parents advised they did, and all the parents are now involved.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
