Madrid Police Report Jan. 29-Feb. 4

January 29, 2018

  • An officer spoke to the father of a Madrid student who stopped in the office after reading last week’s Madrid Police Report. His son was involved in striking the stop sign at 22nd and Union streets. Information was exchanged, and the damage to city property was paid for.
  • An officer started another investigation on a different sign that was hit in town. The officer sent the suspect a message to contact the Madrid Police Department so the damages to city property could be taken care of.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding fraud when accessing his bank account.
  • An officer took a report of a burglary to a structure.
  • An officer followed up with several neighbors regarding suspicious activity around their neighborhood.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of N. Kennedy Street for a driving infraction.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Rescue and the Boone County Hospital regarding a medical call at the Cedars.

January 30, 2018

  • An officer spoke to a resident from the 100 block of Jonathon Drive in reference to an abandoned vehicle.
  • An officer picked up a dog at large in the 500 block of W. First Street.
  • An officer released a dog that was picked up earlier to its owner. The owner was warned about allowing the dog to run at large.
  • An officer unlocked a vehicle for a staff member at the Madrid Home.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding a question related to a dog getting loose from the yard.
  • An officer received a call of an erratic driver travelling through town. The officer was unable to locate the vehicle in town and passed along the information to the Boone County Sheriff’s office.

January 31, 2018

  • An officer responded to the 200 block of N. Union Street for a child out of control and refusing to go to school.

February 1, 2018

  • An officer spoke to a resident about a missing dog.

February 2, 2018

  • An officer verified a vehicle identification number for a resident who purchased a snowmobile.

February 3, 2018

  • An officer was dispatched to a disturbance in the 600 block of Maverick Lane. The parties were having a verbal argument, and the male half left with a family member.
  • An officer was notified of several bales of hay on Iowa Highway 210. The hay was removed prior to officer’s arrival.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding identity theft.
  • An officer was notified of an erratic driver in the area of Iowa Highway 17 and W. North Street. The officer was unable to locate the vehicle in question.

February 4, 2018

  • An officer spoke to a resident regarding an attempt to locate on his daughter. The officer contacted the Boone County Sheriff’s office in order to issue the attempt-to-locate request and notified the Des Moines Police Department because that is where the father thinks she might be.
  • An officer spoke to a resident about a civil issue involving child custody.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
