January 30, 2017

  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency medical call at the Madrid Home.
  • An officer assisted a Madrid resident with a civil issue.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency medical call at the Madrid Home.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding possible vandalism to a vehicle. It was determined the tarp fitted over the vehicle, along with the wind, had rubbed the paint on the vehicle.
  • An officer fingerprinted someone for employment purposes.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding registering a snowmobile.

January 31, 2017

  • An officer spoke to a dog owner who was spoken to last night about the animal running at large. The owner said he would speak to his neighbor and get the problem sorted out.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident who reported a male last night at 7:30 p.m. trying to sell him steaks. The resident wanted to report it because he had no vendors license to do so.
  • An officer received another complaint of door-to-door steak sales. The seller came in and got a vendors license.
  • An officer assisted someone who asked whether a purchased snowmobile was previously stolen for registration purposes.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of S. Avenue. The driver was warned for improper lamps.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of S. State Street. The driver was advised on proper registration for the vehicle.

February 1, 2017

  • An officer was dispatched to an erratic driver traveling southbound on Iowa Highway 17. The officer stopped the vehicle and found the driver was distracted while eating. The driver was given a warning.
  • An officer fingerprinted someone for a job-related back ground check.
  • An officer was called to the 400 block of Newton Road for a welfare check. Officers assisted Boone County Deputy Sheriffs regarding a medical committal.
  • An officer took a report of a stolen motor vehicle. The officer determined the vehicle had been recovered and impounded by the Polk County Sheriff’s office and a suspect was found inside the vehicle. Charges are pending following an investigation.

February 2, 2017

  • An officer was called to the 100 block of E. Third Street for a dog acting aggressively toward workers from the state of Iowa who were doing an inspection. The officer was able to get the animal back in the kennel.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency medical call at the Madrid High School.
  • An officer followed up on a window downtown that was broken by a BB.
  • An officer was called to 211 S. Green St. regarding a loud music complaint.

February 3, 2017

  • An officer was dispatched to check on a suspicious person walking southward on Iowa Highway 17 south of Madrid. The officer located the person and found him just walking back home after work.
  • An officer responded to 917 S. Kennedy Ave. regarding a dog left outside in the cold. Upon arrival, the animal was inside and doing just fine. The officer notified the owner of the neighbor’s concern for the dog.
  • An officer responded to a report of an erratic driver passing through town on Iowa Highway 17. The officer tried to catch the vehicle, but it was too far ahead to safely pursue.
  • An officer took a report from a woman who said another driver was aggressive and failed to dim the headlights while following her on Iowa Highway 415.

February 4, 2017

  • An officer spoke to someone regarding a domestic situation that occurred the previous day. Officer will follow up with any possible charges and with Iowa Department of Human Services.
  • An officer spoke to an Iowa Department of Human Services employee regarding a case from 2016.
  • A woman called said her black terrier dog was missing. If found, please notify the Madrid Police Department.
  • An officer picked up two dogs on the highway. One was a medium-sized black dog and the other is a large-breed shepherd, a big shaggy dog. Neither dog had tags or was chipped, so they were turned over to the humane society.
  • An officer spoke with someone regarding a house being vacant and needing extra patrol.

February 5, 2017

  • An officer assisted with a medical call in the 400 block of E. First Street.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
