Madrid Police Report July 8-14

July 8, 2019

  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency medical call in the 100 block of N. Main Street. Life Flight landed on scene and transported the patient to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
  • An officer received a complaint of a house with junk vehicles and debris on the property in the 400 block of E. Second Street. The officer will serve the owner a notice to clean the grounds before the Labor Day holiday.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident who was served a junk-vehicle violation on two vehicles. The resident said the vehicles would be licensed and moved into the parking lot tomorrow.
  • An officer received a complaint about a downtown business needing to clean up its grounds and remove a junk vehicle. The officer spoke to the owner regarding the infraction and  needing the property cleaned up for Labor Day. The owner said he would get on the issue this weekend.
  • An officer spoke to several juveniles about bike safety and passed out stickers.
  • An officer was called regarding a juvenile walking on Southern Prairie Drive and wearing a cast. The officer made contact with him and gave him a ride to the library. The officer made sure that a family member was going to pick him up due to him having recent surgery on his feet.
  • An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of S. Kennedy Street. The driver was advised on improper vehicle lighting and registration.
  • An officer received a complaint about UTVs being driven recklessly in the area of 22nd and N. Market streets. The officer was provided a description and will give extra patrol to the area.

July 9, 2019

  • An officer was contacted by a Madrid city employee regarding an elderly male who fell at First Street and Kennedy Avenue. The city worker said he stopped and checked on him, and he stated that he was fine but thought an officer should follow up. The officer made contact with the male and found him to have minor scrapes but no major injury. The man refused all medical treatment.
  • An officer located a vehicle that was broken down at First and State streets. The officer found the driver had a job interview at the Madrid School, so the officer drove her there so she would not be late. She said her husband would get the vehicle removed as soon as possible.
  • An officer spoke to an employee of the Madrid Clinic about a check-fraud case. The officer called and gave all the information to dispatch and asked that it be given to a Boone Police officer since the female was a resident there.

July 10, 2019

  • An officer followed up with a Madrid resident and did a welfare check after dealing with the person the day before on a fall.
  • An officer assisted the Madrid Library staff with an equipment failure.
  • An officer left a message for a Madrid resident at 21st and Union streets, indicating that his property needed cleaned up and asking to schedule a meeting with him to discuss clean-up.

July 11, 2019

  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident in the 400 block of S. Market Street regarding a junk vehicle on her property. The resident said the vehicle belongs to her son and she would pass on the information to him because she wanted it removed also.
  • An officer attempted to make contact with the owner of a second junk vehicle in the 400 block of S. Market Street but found nobody home. The officer left a business card directing the owner to contact him to check on plans for removal.
  • An officer was dispatched to 2300 block of QF Lane on a possible personal injury accident due to the Boone County deputy being out of position. The officer could not locate anyone in the area. Dispatch found that On-star was accidently tripped in a vehicle that traveled over the washboard in front of the house after speaking to the owner of the vehicle.

July 12, 2019

  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident and answered questions about concerns of his elderly family members.
  • An officer filled a records request for a Madrid resident.
  • An officer answered questions about setting a dumpster on the street for a short time during a siding job.
  • An officer took a report of a runaway juvenile.

July 13, 2019

  • An officer met with the caretaker who provided police with a found electronic device of a juvenile previously reported missing for the past two days. After an investigation and securing information from the device, the officer was able to determine the whereabouts of the missing juvenile in Des Moines. The officer notified the Des Moines Police Department of the location of the juvenile, who was found safe and turned over to the Madrid Police Department.
  • An officer followed up with Des Moines Police Department regarding the previous case.

July 14, 2019

  • An officer picked up a found wallet at a downtown business. The officer located the owner and made arrangements for retrieval.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
