November 11, 2019

  • An officer was dispatched to a house fire in the 800 block of S. Kennedy Avenue.
  • An officer gave traffic control to Alliant Energy as they fixed an electrical box at Ninth Street and S. Kennedy Avenue.
  • An officer responded to the 200 block of N. State Street for a report of possible criminal mischief.

November 12, 2019

  • An officer was dispatched to a vehicle traveling southbound on Iowa Highway 17 and making bad passes. The officer was unable to locate.
  • An officer spoke to staff members at the Madrid Library about issues with children after school. The officer will give the area extra patrol at these times.
  • An officer called and left a message for a Madrid resident whose lost wallet was turned in to the Madrid Police Department. The officer later met with owner and returned the property.
  • An officer performed an interview with a victim on an ongoing case.
  • An officer spoke to a Story County resident about a civil issue dealing with property from a past relationship. The officer explained to the person that it was a civil case but that if he was able to work out an exchange of property, then an officer would be available for a civil stand-by.
  • An officer received a call from a Madrid resident, reporting a scam call dealing with Social Security.

November 13, 2019

  • An officer performed a vehicle unlock just outside the city limits on Raven Lane.
  • An officer assisted with catching two horses that were running at large, one within the city limits. Special thanks to Sara Isaacson, Seth Welder and Damon Welder for their horse whisperer skills.
  • An officer was called to a retail store for a counterfeit $100 bill. Staff members said they knew who passed it. The officer contacted the person, who said he would stop up and take care of it. He said he thought that he received the bill in a marketplace transaction online.
  • An officer spoke to the Madrid Public Works Director, who reported a vehicle parked on Main Street that he needed moved. The officer spoke to the vehicle owner, who said the junk yard is picking it up in the morning.
  • An officer met with an insurance agent and gave him copies of two past reports that were requested and paid for.
  • An officer met with a Madrid resident who requested a copy of a past accident report.
  • An officer received a report of a scam call. The caller said the scam used a local business number. Such numbers are entered into the computer and then appear on your phone’s caller ID.
  • An officer met with a staff member from the library, who turned over a knife that a juvenile brought into the building.

November 14, 2019

  • An officer performed a vehicle unlock in the 600 block of Kingman Boulevard.
  • An officer was called to a deer that had been hit on Iowa Highway 210 just east of the city. The officer dispatched the animal, called a local resident and issued a salvage tag so the animal did not go to waste.
  • An officer assisted the Madrid Fire/Rescue on a medical call at the Madrid Home.
  • An officer met with Madrid Elementary School staff about a fifth grader who had issues the night before at the library.
  • An officer received a complaint of a lengthy parked/broken down vehicle on Southern Prairie Drive. The officer spoke to the owner, who had already contacted a tow service to tow the vehicle. The officer contacted the tow company, who stated that it was on the books to be towed the following day.

November 15, 2019

  • An officer performed a vehicle unlock in the 200 block of N. Union Street.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Elementary School staff with doing a home check on a student.
  • An officer followed up on a vehicle in the 600 block of S. Main Street. The owner had the vehicle removed.
  • An officer followed up on a vehicle that was parked on a Southern Prairie Drive. The owner removed the vehicle.
  • An officer assisted a Madrid resident whose vehicle broke down in front of the Madrid City Hall to push his vehicle off of the roadway.

November 16, 2019

  • An officer responded to a medical call Iowa Highway 17 just north of city and assisted Boone County EMS/Rescue.
  • An officer attempted to locate solicitors near the intersection of Locust and Little streets. The officer was unable to locate the peddlers.
  • An officer responded to the VFW bar for an unruly patron who was refusing to leave. The person left after being advised that police were called. The establishment did not wish to push it any further.
  • An officer responded to a residence on W. North Street for a person who was not breathing. The officer and a member of rescue began CPR immediately and were able to get the patient back. The patient was transported to the Boone County Hospital for further care.

November 17, 2019

  • An officer took a report of a stolen dog. Both parties involved claim ownership of the animal so it will need to be resolved in civil court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
