An Earlham man was arrested Monday evening after allegedly assaulting a woman who sprayed him in the face with laundry detergent in self-defense.

Sean Robert Shatava, 38, of 17435 Cardinal Dr., Earlham, was arrested at this address for first-offense domestic abuse assault.

According to court records, the victim claimed Shatava was “acting aggressively toward her, and began shaking a washing machine as she was near by.”

Standing her ground, the victim “sprayed the defendant in the face with laundry detergent in an attempt to get the defendant away,” and she was then “struck with an object and grabbed, shaken and thrown by her neck during the altercation,” according to court records.

Shatava was held at the Dallas County Jail prior to posting a $300 bond. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference Jan. 7 in Dallas County District Court.
