Man arrested for allegedly striking woman in front of kids

David Paul Hyndman, 34, of West Des Moines was arrested Monday on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and two counts of child endangerment.

A West Des Moines man was arrested Monday on a Dallas County warrant for allegedly striking a woman in front of her children.

David Paul Hyndman, 34, of 8602 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and two counts of child endangerment.

The incident occurred about 1:15 p.m. July 9 in the 8600 block of Westown Parkway, where Hyndman allegedly “did willfully and intentionally strike” the female victim, “causing bodily injury,” according to court records.

The alleged “assault occurred in front of” their two minor children, ages 3 and 5, according to court records.

A warrant for Hyndman’s arrest was ordered July 12 in Dallas County District Court and served July 19.

Hyndman was held without bond in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in the Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
